Shepherd Monitoring Systems was developed through the need to better measure and monitor hay storage sheds, that were currently not being met for commercial agricultural production.

Hay season on a large scale involves many moving parts and steps. It only takes a breakdown of one of these steps to cause a situation where hay can spontaneously combust in the storage facility.

In this event, by the time the situation has escalated to obvious signs of spontaneous combustion, it’s already too late to salvage non-affected hay and save the shed asset.
Current devices on the market rely on point contact, and having that probe in the precise bale that is going to cause an issue, is equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack!!! Designed, developed, built and tested in Australia.

Our founder and developer has over 20 years experience in agriculture and export industries. Using advanced iiot technology, cloud hosting and algorithms, HayShepherd is able to alert the owner or occupier of changes in temperature and humidity in exact locations of the storage facility.

Our Approach and Solutions

The system is simple to install, it does not hinder stacking efficiency of the hay shed. The advantage of HayShepherd over point contact systems is that HayShepherd allows for  greater detection area coverage.

Capturing encrypted data for insurance and quality ensuance purposes.
An easy to use mobile platform, allows for easy viewing and monitoring of single or multiple facilities.

The system is capable of sending emails or text message alerts when a temperature abnormality is detected.

HayShepherd allows action to be taken to remove surrounding hay from the suspect bay, also allowing for the readiness of fire prevention equipment to be on site.

The system does not replace the need to properly bale hay, the system is to monitor any temperature or humidity abnormalities. HayShepherd allows for an insight and advanced warning of possible hay spontaneous combustion events developing. Which allows for the removal of any surrounding hay, so the suspect hay can be isolated and attended to.
